In September 2025 following the huge success of the consultancy service I decided with encouragement and support from family, friends and colleagues to open a limited company – Anchor Social Care Ltd was born. Having worked in the industry for 29 years I had a reputation around regulation support and guidance after working with Ofsted. I along with selective partners are working together alongside providers offering support and guidance to improve outcomes for children in care. Together we offer guidance with expertise.

I have over 37 years experience of working and volunteering with children and young people within the NHS, Social Care and charity sector. I am passionate about the voice of the child and the need for quality care for children who are looked after.

My last role with ROC, as an operations manager, allowed me to bring together my experience as a CAMHS mental health nurse, youth worker and Ofsted regulator to support, guide and advise an outstanding provider in the field of social care for children.

Before ROC I was an Ofsted Inspector. I spent 20 years in registration, inspecting, compliance and enforcement of care services at Ofsted as a social care inspector. It was challenging work but I enjoyed ensuring children received good quality care and grew up in an environment where they felt loved and were safe. I worked with professionals and staff to ensure safe standards were met. Ultimately we want the same outcome and we address it together.

I have over 20 years experience of working in residential social care settings, my roles have included Registered Manager of which I obtained Outstanding five occasions. I have held leadership roles such as Area Manager, Head of Safeguarding/Pastoral Care, Head of Children’s Services, Children Service Lead, Responsible Individual. More recently I have worked as a consultant and Regulation 44 visitor.

I have always been extremely passionate and committed to providing a high level of care displaying compassion, consistency, professionalism, and a child-centred approach towards all young people. It was paramount that I always created a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where children feel valued, heard, and supported. I feel my key attributes are strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships.

I was a dedicated professional with extensive experience as a Registered Manager of an Ofsted-regulated Children’s Home, proficiently working within the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. My leadership was instrumental in consistently achieving outstanding outcomes, culminating in an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating across all areas on five inspections.

I was commended in 2021- Outstanding Contribution in Social Care at the CYP awards

I was voted in 2018 – Inspirational worker of the year at the Cumbria awards

I received a commendation letter from Lancashire Police which was specifically for the safeguarding of young people in my care in 2018.

Nominated for Dedicated Director award 2026 at the CYP awards and also Regulation 44 visitor Award at the Children’s Homes Quality Leadership Conference 2026   

I have over a decade of experience in residential childcare, progressing through frontline care, team leadership and management. During my time in registered management, I was extremely proud to have achieved three consecutive Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ outcomes, an experience that developed my passion for strong leadership, reflective practice and ensuring that children receive consistently high-quality care.

In April 2025, I moved into independent consultancy, providing Regulation 44 visits, mentoring, quality assurance, compliance support and guidance to children’s homes and providers. Following the growth of this work, I became a Director of Anchor Social Care, where I continue to work directly alongside providers, Responsible Individuals, Registered Managers and staff teams. My work includes Regulation 44 visits, audits, mentoring and reflective supervision, workshops, improvement planning and supporting services to prepare for inspection and strengthen practice.

I remain passionate about being present within services and working alongside people rather than simply identifying areas for improvement. I see my role as being a supportive but appropriately challenging critical friend: recognising good practice, asking the right questions, sharing experience and helping managers and teams find practical ways forward.

I am particularly passionate about developing confident leaders and ensuring that children’s voices, experiences, safety and outcomes remain at the centre of everything we do.

With over 12 years of experience in Early Years education, I have worked in nurseries and pre-schools as a qualified practitioner, as well as providing support for children with SEN.

I then spent seven years in the retail sector, progressing into Team Leader and Store Manager, where I developed strong leadership, customer service, and operational management skills. Alongside this, I worked part-time in an admin role within the regional office of a uniformed organisation, further strengthening my organisational and administrative abilities.

In 2026, I embraced a new challenge by joining Anchor Social Care as an Executive Assistant. In this role, I oversee the day-to-day running of the office, managing admin and providing business & HR support to ensure the organisation operates efficiently.

Outside of work, I am passionate about volunteering with Girlguiding, where I have dedicated over 20 years of service as a Brownie Leader. This role has enabled me to lead volunteers, develop young people and organise engaging activities while giving back to my local community.
